What Does One Do...

...on a little island in Maine?

We still spend our summers on a little island in Maine. Lest you think I am on "holiday" there, I will give you a brief synopsis of some of my projects.

After my book tour for Trowel & Error, I was honored to be asked to do a chapter on butterfly gardening with children for The Butterfly Gardener's Guide (Brooklyn Botanic Garden, 2003). Their series of books are a treasure and a must on every gardener's book shelf.

In June 2003, I was an Artist-in-Residence at Leila Arboretum, Battle Creek, Michigan, for their Children's Garden Grand Opening.

I added new text, new art, and lots of how-to boxed information to a collection of my regular "Heart's Ease" columns from Country Living GARDENER. The book, A Blessing of ToadsA Gardener's Guide to Living with Nature, was released in a hard bound edition in June 2004.

I continue to do my "Heart's Ease" column and art work for Country Living GARDENER, but sadly, the magazine will be available on newsstands only (not by subscription) each Spring and Summer, the busiest gardening seasons. Nancy Soriano, the editor of Country Living, has asked me to do some special writing for her that will appear in Country Living, Country Living Holidays and some other Country Living Special Interest Publications.
